Measure the full curtain rod, not only the glass. For attractive folds and better edge coverage, the combined flat width of the panels should usually be about 1.5 to 2 times the rod width. Compare that target with the total width shown for the selected curtain set; wider windows may need more than one set.

For grommet curtains, measure from the top of the rod to where you want the hem to finish, then select the closest available length. A hem that sits just above the floor is easier to keep clean; a longer length creates a more dramatic look but needs more floor clearance. Blackout fabric is designed to block incoming light through the panel, but the final room-darkening result also depends on fit and installation. Always check the sewn-in care label first. When machine washing is permitted, use cold water, a gentle cycle, and mild detergent; wash the two panels together and avoid bleach. Air dry or use the lowest approved dryer setting so excessive heat does not affect the blackout layers.

Hang the panels as soon as they are unpacked and allow the folds to relax. If the care label permits steaming, use low heat on the fabric side and keep the steamer moving. Avoid pressing a hot iron directly onto the blackout backing.
